A greenhouse holds a controlled climate in place for a whole growing season. The climate control appears only once the fruit is harvested, sorted and loaded — first into a reefer container that holds a steady temperature and humidity for the sea voyage, then into whatever storage a distributor uses once it clears customs in Malaysia.
Why the sourcing decision starts with the origin region, not the container
Reviewing suppliers means asking which desert region a batch was grown in before asking about the container it travelled in — Bam and Jiroft for Mazafati and Piarom, Madinah for Ajwa, Tunisia and Algeria for Deglet Noor. Each region's dryness and heat during growing determines how much moisture the fruit is carrying before it's even loaded, which in turn determines how much work the reefer container has to do to keep it stable for weeks at sea.
