What A Fat Loss Day Is Like

Healthy plate of food with dates as a snack

Exam week is a bad time to try losing fat, and most people don't — they either stress-eat or forget to eat properly at all, both of which show up on the scale the same way once revision is over. A day that just holds steady is realistic. A day that improves things is a bonus.

Morning — before the library

Eat before you leave, even if it's just toast and eggs. Turning up to a study session on an empty stomach means the first thing you do at the library vending machine is undo it.

The 10am and 3pm slumps

These are the two hours revision actually breaks down — concentration drops and the vending machine chocolate bar becomes the easiest fix in the building. Pack 4-5 kurma in a small container the night before and keep them in your bag. They're not messy, they don't need a fridge, and they cover the same craving as chocolate without the same crash an hour later that makes you reach for a second one.

Lunch — away from the desk

Even fifteen minutes eating somewhere other than your notes helps more than people expect. A normal lunch — rice or noodles with protein, whatever you'd usually eat — not a "study snack" standing in for a real meal.

Evening — the second wind trap

Late-night revision often comes with a second round of snacking out of boredom rather than hunger. If you're going to snack, a small bowl of dates with a handful of nuts lasts longer than a bag of chips and doesn't leave you wired at midnight the way sugary drinks do.

Buying for the week

One box lasts most students through a full exam block if it's rationed into daily portions rather than left open on the desk. If you're buying for the first time, our price guide covers what different grades cost, and our local vs imported guide is worth a look if budget matters more than origin right now.

Exam week isn't the time for a strict plan. It's the time for one small swap — chocolate bar to dates — repeated at the same two hours every day, because that's the part of the day you can actually control.
