Movie night has its own menu, and that menu is usually the easiest place to start — nobody else has to notice the rest of the week changed at all.
Replace the bowl, not the night
The habit is the bowl on the coffee table, not any one snack in particular. Put dates in it instead of chips for the next few movie nights — Piarom or Zahedi work well since neither turns sticky sitting out for two hours under a blanket.
Nothing else about the evening changes. Same film, same seat, same time.
Keep a container ready near the sofa
If the dates are still in the kitchen, they don't make it to the bowl. Keep a small sealed container in the living room cupboard, refilled from the main stock once a week, so movie night doesn't depend on someone remembering to walk to the kitchen mid-film.
Let it spread on its own
Once the bowl swap is automatic, the next easiest target is usually whatever snack sits next to the TV on an ordinary weeknight, not just movie night. There's no fixed order to follow; whichever snack moment is easiest to notice is the next one worth changing.
