Burning Fat By Correct

Dates displayed at a shop counter next to a customer asking about healthy snacking

Customers at the counter ask some version of the same question most weeks: what's the correct way to burn fat, and do dates help or hurt that.

"Are dates too sugary for a diet?" Not in the amount most people actually eat. Two or three dates is around 100–150 calories, similar to a small chocolate bar, but with fibre that slows the sugar down. The problem is eating half the box while watching TV, not the fruit itself.

"Does cutting carbs completely work faster?" It often looks faster in week one because of water loss, not fat loss. By week three the rate usually settles to the same pace as a moderate, sustainable deficit, except the low-carb version is harder to keep up at a wedding or during Raya.

"Do I need to run every day?" No. Three sessions of strength work and daily walking burns more fat over a month than daily running alone, because the strength work keeps the muscle that daily running tends to burn through.

"What should replace snacking on biscuits?" A fixed, countable amount of something real. Dates work for that specifically because a serving is easy to count, two or three pieces, unlike a packet of biscuits that's gone before anyone notices.

The short version: small steady deficit, enough protein, some resistance training, and swaps that are easy to count rather than easy to overeat.
